Alok Pokharel is an advocate with experiences of practicing, researching and teaching public law. He has been teaching at Chakrabarti Habi Education Academy, College of Law since 2013 and currently teaches constitutional law, administrative law, and legislative principles and law making process. For the past several years, he has been doing research and writing academic outputs on Nepal’s constitution and federalism. He is also a visiting faculty at Kathmandu University School of Law teaching constitutional law and jurisprudence. He has done MA in Political Science from Tribhuvan University in 2015 and LL.M from Boston College Law School, Massachusetts, in 2012. After completing LL.M, he worked as a legal fellow for the Institute of Justice & Democracy in Haiti - a Boston based non-profit representing more than 5000 cholera victims against the United Nations. He has worked for nonprofits such as Pro-Public, Democracy Resource Center Nepal, and Niti Foundation. Acting as public interest lawyer for Pro Public, he litigated before the Supreme Court on issues of transitional justice, citizenship, and right to vote. At DRCN, he mostly researched and wrote on constitution’s implementation and led Niti Foundation’s work to strengthen constitutional bodies in Nepal.
